Introduction

Fourth Graders at Bingham Memorial School in Cornwall wanted to know what life was like in their Vermont town back in the 1800's and 1900's. The students teamed up with members of the Cornwall Historical Society to find answers to their questions. They met with members of the historical society and others in the community who knew family stories about life on the farm, young people's adventures, and dramatic events long ago. Students also went on field trips with their community guides, visiting the homes of the people they had learned about and seeing sites where historical events once took place.

These are their stories.

Written and developed by the Cornwall Elementary School Fourth Grade class of Janne Giles, 2005.
